DEA TRUSTEES AND STAFF RETREAT

As part of DEA Trustees’ ongoing formation program, Trustees and staff participated in a Retreat Day at the beach house of the Dominican Sisters in Bundeena on Thursday 24 July. The theme of the retreat Letting Go, Letting Come was facilitated by Jenni Hickson, Director of Mission and Formation.

Sr Margaret Mayce OP, President of Dominican Sisters International (DSI), in an interview with Jenni Hickson, shared the juncture many congregations of Dominican women around the world are being called to as they move towards completion. DEA Trustees were invited to reflect on the impact of this reality and what DEA is called to at this time.

In session two we were invited to spend time in personal reflection on our own journey, while walking on the beach or through the beautiful bushland.

Fr Dom Carrigan CSsR broke open the WORD – the Emmaus Story (Luke 24:13-35) before offering the sacrament of Reconciliation and celebrating Eucharist with us.

The final session of the day, Letting Come, provided reflective time to share with another what our dream for DEA in the next 10 years is. In all, a rich day spent alone and together in prayer and reflection, ever grateful for time, place and the skills and leadership of our facilitator.
