AMPJP FORMUM 17-18 AUGUST 2025, CAIRNS

DEA Trustees were represented along with the DEA Director of Mission and Formation and CEO at the Annual AMPJP Forum held in Cairns on the 17 – 18 August.

DEA is one of 14 Ministerial Public Juridic Persons established by religious congregations in Australia and New Zealand with responsibility for governance of Church entities across education, healthcare and community works.

Bishop Joe Caddy, Bishop of Cairns opened the Forum with a thought provoking and challenging after-dinner speech on Sunday evening.

On Monday morning, Associate Professor Jamie Calder SJ, author and researcher of the theological reflection Called by Love, Called to the Stewardship of Service: Theological Foundations of lay Ecclesial leadership in Ministerial Public Juridic Persons presented the content before formally launching this work, commissioned by the AMPJP Council.

Dr Ruth Powell, Director of NCLS Research reported on the results of the Survey of Canonical Stewards 2025 and the implication of the findings for Formation of Canonical Stewards.

From the local to the international scene, Adjunct Professor Susan Pascoe & Assoc. Prof. Jamie Calder SJ shared the findings from the Inclusive Governance in a Synodal Church Project.
