GATHERINED IN MISSION: Celebrating DEA’s 10 Years through Mission Gatherings

Ten years ago, Dominican Education Australia was established as a Public Juridic Person of the Catholic Church, entrusted with carrying forward and extending the rich legacy of Catholic education in the Dominican tradition, first pioneered by the Sisters.

In 2026, DEA celebrates this significant milestone, marking a decade of faithful commitment to the mission while embracing the call to be bold for the future. A key part of these celebrations has been a series of Mission Gatherings held across each ministry.

Over recent months, Dominican Education Australia (DEA), in partnership with its ministries, has hosted these gatherings, each rich in spirit, reflection, and community. They have provided meaningful opportunities for staff, leaders, Trustees, and community members to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the heart of the Dominican mission.

The first gathering was held at St Lucy’s School on 14 May, followed by breakfast gatherings at Siena College on 22 May, and St Dominic’s Priory College on 27 May. Each event was co-hosted with the local ministry and shaped with DEA and with the Ministry leadership, context, and community.

While united by a common mission, each gathering reflected the distinctive character of its host community. From the joy of the Percussionists at St Lucy’s, to the inspiring witness of a Siena student sharing how her faith comes alive through art, to the warmth and generous hospitality offered by students at St Dominic’s, each occasion shone a light on Dominican life thriving within every ministry.

DEA looks forward to attending with great joy the Mission Gatherings to be held at Santa Sabina College, St Mary’s College and Cabra Dominican College, which are being held later in the year.
