AMPJP ANNUAL FORUM 2024

DEA Trustees together with the CEO, participated in the Annual AMPJP Forum held in Sydney on the 25-26 August,

DEA is one of 14 Ministerial Public Juridic Persons established by religious congregations in Australia and New Zealand with responsibility for governance of Church entities across education, healthcare and community works.

Susan Pascoe AM delivered the after-dinner speech on Sunday evening – “The Synod on Synodality.  What should we expect?” leaving the group with a sense of optimism for the upcoming second session of the Synod and for the global Church.

On Monday morning, Associate Professor Jamie Calder SJ enlightened us on aspects of the work of MPJP ministries in his presentation, Canonical Stewardship of MPJPs: Theological Foundations.

Short presentations by our newest MPJPs, New Zealand member Whanau Mercy Ministries, guests from Singapore and Malaysia Catholic Healthcare Asia, Loreto Ministries and Marist Association who each shared stories of success and challenge in their new beginnings.

Chair of AMPJP Council, Moira Najdecki’s launched the new AMPJP Strategic Plan 2024 – 2027,

The forum provided a rich experience of Pope Francis’ call to a synodal Church.
