DEA Formation

Commitment to Formation

The requirements outlined in the Petition to the Vatican for the establishment of DEA highlighted the centrality of formation to the ongoing call to the Gospel, the Catholic tradition and the Dominican charism.

Key collaborators with DEA are invited into a Dominican community to share and engage with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through a series of formation experiences.

Dominicans are called to ‘contemplate and to share with others the fruits of contemplation’ (contemplare et contemplata aliis tradere).  DEA seeks through formation to create a culture where the Dominican charism is integral to decision making at every level of governance and leadership.

For Dominicans ‘veritas’, truth, is informed by personal and communal study and is revealed through listening, discernment, and respect for the views of each person. The dynamic of the Dominican charism is the freedom with which each searches for truth as an evolving reality.
