DEA BOARD CHAIRS, PRINCIPALS AND TRUSTEES DAY MAY 2025

Trustees, Board Chairs and Principals of DEA Ministries met for the biennial meeting in Melbourne. Rev Dr Brendan Reed, Parish Priest in the Archdiocese of Melbourne and adjunct lecturer at Catholic Theological College in pastoral theology opened the evening gathering on 7th May. Brendan’s presentation – Challenges for Catholic Identity as we Reimagine 2035 served as an excellent foray into – DEA Next 10 years on the following day.   A Project Team is to be appointed to explore various aspects of DEA’s ministry of governance into the future.  

A celebration dinner followed the opening evening session at which tribute was paid to Eileen Young, retiring Chair of DEA Board for her leadership of the Board during her 9-year tenure. Michael Dahl, retiring Chair of Cabra Dominican College Board was also thanked for his leadership and service.

The following day’s meeting began with prayer in honour of St Catherine of Siena in the beautiful College chapel. The morning formation session included reflections shared by three of the pilgrims who recently returned from DEA’s inaugural Pilgrimage to northern Spain and southern France. – In the Footsteps of St Dominic. Principals also shared approaches and programs adopted in two of the DEA ministries to enhance staff and students understanding of the Dominican story and charism.

An opportunity for dialogue on role specific matters was a valued part of the afternoon’s program. Guests also appreciated a tour of Siena College and admired the facilities and many and varied Dominican images displayed.
